Mission

The Collaborative supports interdisciplinary research on cities and human mobility. Understanding human mobility patterns, their impact on cities, and the role that cities can play for facilitating human mobility and the integration of different communities require an interdisciplinary approach through the application of innovative methods and the analysis of new data.

The Collaborative brings together a global community of scholars with the purpose of researching and addressing pressing social, economic and governance challenges in relation to mobility and citizenship in urban areas. It aims to produce new evidence, contribute to debates, and establish a bridge between the academic community and policy-makers to support knowledge communication, exchange, and cross-sectoral collaboration and prepare the next generation of thinkers.  

Activities

The Collaborative serves the academic and wider communities through the following activities:

  • Collaborative research
  • Disseminating findings and policy recommendations
  • Developing and offering academic courses
  • Faculty/scholar research visits and exchanges
  • Engaging practitioners

  • Data and the constituents and impact of population growth
  • Normative and conceptual analysis of the field
  • Migration, citizenship, and technology
  • Inclusion and incorporation
  • Forced migration
